Business Services Manager - Fire

About You / What We Are Looking For
We have an exciting acting opportunity for a Business Services Manager to join the Fire/Rescue Services division of the Community Safety department in a temporary full time capacity (for a period of approximately 12 months with the possibility of an extension). We are looking for an innovative, creative, strategic and forward thinking candidate with previous leadership, financial or analytical experience. This position plays a key role in managing the Fire/Rescue budgets and other projects, and also works closely with other departments across the City such as Finance, Planning and Development and ICT, and is also a key liaison with their peers groups throughout the City. This is an excellent growth opportunity for a candidate who is a quick learner and is passionate about developing policies, continuous improvements and optimizing the use of technology to improve processes within the division.
 
Reporting to the Fire Chief, the ideal candidate possesses strong verbal and written communications skills, critical thinking skills, excellent interpersonal skills, analytical skills as well as project management skills. This position assists with developing divisional strategies and work plans, manages departmental budgets and assists with implementing policy and operational changes within the department You will have the ability to develop solutions to business problems based on strategic and analytical problem solving; establish priorities, set and meet goals and to accomplish objectives; organize and manage a variety of competing deadlines within time and budget constraints; foster the development of management practices which focus on continuous improvement in the activities of the department and establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers and employees. This role requires considerable leadership skills, exceptionable organizational skills, conceptual and analytical skills, coaching and facilitation skills, research and knowledge of computer software applications.

Minimum Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a University degree in a discipline such as Business Administration, Commerce, Finance or a related field and a minimum of 5 years progressive experience in a strategic management role. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications
A CPA designation or Masters in Business Administration or experience within a municipal or regional government setting would be considered an asset. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and talented individual to take on a leadership role in the Community Safety department.

What We Offer:
This excluded position has an annual rate between $137,991 and $155,221. The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.
